Subject: Wireless network guest access

Hi all,

The main campus has again changed our access method for guests to the wireless network.  They are back to requiring us to create guest accounts on an individual basis.

  1. To create an account, go to http://netguest.lsu.edu
  2. You will need to log on to the system as a sponsor (your PAWS account) and then fill in the form with the requested information.
  3. These accounts will only be good for a maximum of 7 days.
  4. The default length is 1 day, so if you want to give more than that, you will need to make the change during the registration process.
  5. Once the account is created, you will get a reply from the system with the guest username and password.
  6. Print that information out and hand it to the person.
  7. You might tell the guest that they will have to choose “local” as the provider when they logon.

Thanks and let me know if you have questions.

Subject: Wireless Network Changes
As you are probably aware, the main campus computing did not turn off the old wireless network this week as was intended.  The old network is now scheduled to be disabled over the weekend and you will be required to use the new network no later than Monday.  If you try to log in to the old wireless network on Monday, you will be redirected to the login site for the new network with instructions on how to properly configure your PC before you can log on.
Instructions to configure your PC are located at:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Mac
If you have any trouble, please see IT in Room 317.
Thank you and let me know if you have any questions.
